My first build in my first house, these mammoth cases filled the space around a lonely, muted hearth, and exposed the original fireplace surround. These were constructed from MDF with pine routed and inset on the shelving for strength.

 

Initially deep all around, top shelving was pushed back to create a more sophisticated look while cabinets below created smart storage, the left housing a woofer and acting as a connection to the wall mounted TV. This look was expressed through the home, including the dining room and stairwell.
